240 E-Buses Coming to Punjab

Key Features of the Initiative

Through this program, 240 e-buses will be deployed in 24 districts of South Punjab to provide reliable and affordable transportation. These will be environment-friendly and will provide passengers with comfort and quiet transportation.
Additional buses
It has also been announced that 500 more such e-buses will be introduced in major cities like Lahore, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Multan and Rawalpindi between August and October 2025 to improve the system.
Further expansion
And expected arrival of 600 more electric buses by the end of 2025, completing one of Punjab’s largest green mobility expansions, brings this and the program to a purposeful conclusion.

Areas Benefiting from the Initiative
According to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, there are 24 areas in South Punjab that will be provided with e-buses, which are mentioned below.
These are the 24 areas that will be able to benefit from this program temporarily:
- Bahawalpur
- Multan
- Muzaffargarh
- Dera Ghazi Khan
- Rajanpur, Layyah, Kot Addu,
- Jampur, Taunsa, Sharif, Vehari, Khanewal, Lodhran, Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Bahawalnagar,
- Hasilpur, Chishtian, Manchanabad, Fort Abbas, Haroonabad and Yazman.
Additional 500 buses
The areas that will be provided with additional 500 buses are
- Lahore, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Multan, Rawalpindi.
Other cities of Punjab Clean Air Program:
- Sheikhupura, Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Gujranwala

Rapid Bus Transit Projects
Apart from e-buses, the government in Punjab is also working on a major BRT project designed for major cities, which are as follows:
Gujranwala BRT
It is a 22-kilometer route from Rahu Wali to Ahmedabad, which has 28 stations, 80 feeder buses and four electric depots. The buses will run every eight minutes.
Faisalabad Red and Orange Lines
Faisalabad’s Red Line will cover a distance of 23.4 kilometers with 24 stations and will connect FIEDMC with Salami Chowk and serve 185,000 passengers daily,
The Faisalabad Orange Line will cover a distance of 29 kilometers with 21 stations and will provide access to the service to approximately 111,000 passengers.
