Regular quarterly payments

Benazir Kafalat Programme

Benazir Talaaim Wazifa (Educational Scholarship)

Special financial assistance during emergencies

The 8171 web portal and SMS service are the main channels used to check eligibility and payment status.

New Updates of BISP 8171

Biometric verification is mandatory.

BISP has officially implemented biometric verification at all payment centers and retail outlets to ensure that payments are made directly to the rightful recipients. This change has caused delays for some people, especially those whose thumb impressions do not match.

Solution: If you are facing issues with fingerprint verification, visit your nearest NADRA office to update your biometric details.

BISP cards are introduced.

After a gap of several years, the government has started introducing Benazir debit cards for easy and secure disbursement of funds. The cards are being distributed in selected districts in phase Form .

If your district is included, you will receive an SMS from 8171 telling you when and where to collect your card.

New districts join registration drive

In August, registration was reopened in 50 more districts across the country, including rural and semi-urban areas where access was previously limited. NSER (National Socio-Economic Registry) teams are actively collecting data for new families.

Who is Eligible

BISP uses the PMT score to assess eligibility. 

You are a widow, divorced, or unemployed woman.

  • You are from a low-income household (monthly income less than Rs. 30,000)
  • No one in your family works for the government
  • You have not traveled abroad.

Your poverty score is below than 32.

How to register for BISP in August 2025.

There are two main ways to register:

Through NSER survey teams

NSER teams are going door to door in the newly included areas. Make sure you:

  • Carry your CNIC
  • Provide correct household and income information.
  • Mention the number of dependent children.

Self-registration through BISP centers

You can also visit the nearest BISP Tehsil Center and submit your documents:

  • Original CNIC (for women, preferably the head of the household)
  • B-Form of children
  • Utility bill (if available)

After verification, you will receive a message from 8171 if you are eligible.

How to Check Eligibility

You can check your BISP status in three ways:

SMS method

  • Type your 13 digit CNIC number.
  • Send to 8171.

Web portal method

  • Go to 8171.bisp.gov.pk.
  • Enter your CNIC number.
  • Complete the captcha.

You can visit the nearest BISP Tehsil Office and check your eligibility and status through the staff and Tehsil Office Head and also get more information about BISP.

Where to Collect BISP Payments?

BISP payments can be collected through:

  • HBL Connect and Bank Alfalah agents
  • Designated BISP Cash Centers
  • ATMs (for BISP card holders).
  • Retail shops.

Don’t forget:

  • Bring your original CNIC.
  • Biometric verification is now mandatory.
  • Only registered women can collect money.

Common Issues and Solutions – August 2025

CNIC is not registered.

Solution: Visit your nearest NADRA center and update your CNIC details. Then visit the BISP Registration Center.

Payment message received but amount not disbursed.

Solution: Make sure your fingerprints match. If biometric fails, visit NADRA to update.

Disqualification message via SMS

The poverty score may be too high or the details may be incorrect. To reapply or update the information, visit the BISP Tehsil Office. If you are disqualified this year for any reason, you have to take it positively and keep applying again because there may have been a mistake last time or your PMT score may be higher.

Government’s Promise in 2025

  • A budget of Rs. 471 billion has been allocated for BISP in the fiscal year 2025-26.
