Importance of BISP Nashonuma Program and Registration

The Benazir Income Support Program was launched by the Government of Pakistan in July 2008 for public assistance, the main objective of which was to help those eligible people who were being pushed into poverty due to economic conditions. 

]This program was launched to help those who were disappointed with their lives due to severe circumstances. This program gradually progressed and successive governments took steps to protect it and updated it according to the current situation. Many programs have been launched from it, including the Benazir Kafalat Program, the Skilled Program, and the Nashonuma Program. 

Today, in this article, we will talk about the BISP Nashonuma Program, why it was needed and how important it was, and what the registration procedure is. In this article, you will be able to know everything about it.

What is the BISP Nashonuma Program? 

The BISP Nashonuma Program was launched by the Government of Pakistan to address the issue of malnutrition and improve the health of pregnant women, mothers and children under the age of two. The Government of Pakistan launched the Benazir Nashonuma Program in 2020, considering the situation at that time. Initially, it was launched in only 14 districts of Pakistan, but considering its importance and reasons, as well as its success, it was expanded to 158 districts across Pakistan, providing access to services to one-in-two million people through 512 development centers. In addition, mobile sites are separate. 

This program was launched so that the future of Pakistan, namely newborn children, are protected from diseases and the diet of their mothers is met so that they can develop their children better.

According to a dynamic survey, the report states that 17.7 percent of children in Pakistan are stunted and suffer from poor physical health, and it is very important to meet their nutritional needs. For this reason, the Government of Pakistan launched a program called Nashonuma  to provide proper nutrition and support to the mother and her child for a bright future. 

This program was previously launched by Prime Minister Imran Khan under the name of Healthy Month, Healthy Child, and now this program is known as the Nashonuma  Program.

Eligibility criteria for the program: 

To be eligible for the BISP Nashonuma program, women i.e. beneficiaries must meet these criteria, only then can they be eligible for this program. 

  • Register in the sponsorship program. To benefit from the BISP Nashonuma program, it is necessary to register under the Benazir Kafalat program. 
  • Pregnant and lactating women. Women whose baby is developing in their womb or women who are breastfeeding are eligible for this program. 
  • Age limit: According to this BISP program, if the child is between the age limit i.e. six months to 23 months, then they can also benefit from this program. This program gives priority to the economically backward classes so that the future of Pakistan can be better.

Registration Process in the Program 

To register for the BISP Nashonuma program, you will have to go through these steps. Then, 

  • Your registration in the program will be done at the nearest government hospital or center. 
  • To become a beneficiary, go to the nearest government hospital or center with the required documents and get yourself registered with the lady health worker or in-charge or contact the lady health worker or in-charge for registration and medical check-up so that your files can be created and you can be registered in the program.

Post-Eligibility Process 

After your eligibility is confirmed, you will have to visit the nearest doctor to check your status. 

Pregnant women, 

Those who are pregnant, will have to submit the results of the Homer test and along with it, the confirmation report and EPI card will also have to be filed. 

Breastfeeding women, 

Those who are raising a newborn or infant will have to submit the Child Birth Form and the EPI card as proof of vaccination. 

Child between six and 23 months of age, 

If the child is between six months and 23 months of age, then Form B and EPI card will be required. In case of non-verification, the status will be checked.

Nashonuma Program Assistance

After the BISP Nashonuma program assistance amount is confirmed, the payment will be given to the beneficiaries immediately. For newborns or children between six and 23 months, a three-month period will be determined for these children. Twins and triplets can also apply. In this program, a male child will be provided with Rs. 2,000 and a girl child with Rs. 2,500.

Benefits

The BISP Nashonoma Program provides several benefits to eligible beneficiaries, including:

1. Financial assistance: 

Pregnant women receive Rs. 2,500 per month, while children below 2 years of age receive Rs. 2,000 (for boys) or Rs. 2,500 (for girls) every three months.

2. Health services: 

Regular health check-ups, vaccination reminders, nutritional supplements, and one-on-one health counseling sessions.

3. Awareness sessions: 

Monthly sessions on maternal and child health, nutrition, and hygiene.

Objectives of the Program 

The BISP Development Program fulfills several objectives, some of which include:

Preventing stunting. 

The main objective of this program is to prevent bone diseases by providing food security to children under two years of age. 

Weight gain of pregnant women. 

Women lose weight at the time of childbirth. To make up for this loss, this program provides money so that essential growth can continue. 

Anemia and micronutrient deficiency. 

The most important and basic objective of this program is to make up for anemia and deficiency of micronutrients that are very important. 

Awareness of mother and child health and nutrition. 

In this program, a center is set up once a month and all the beneficiary women are given necessary instructions so that the health and nutrition of the child can be improved.
